An Elevation Certificate is a document generated from the field work of a surveyor in the normal course of their business.
An Elevation Survey is performed by a licensed surveyor using established RMs (Reference Marks) identified on the FIRM (Flood Insurance Rate Map) issued by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). The surveyor runs a level loop from the RM to the structure in order to obtain the measurements to formulate the exact elevations regarding that particular structure. Cost variations are often due to the lack of available benchmarks.
